The opportunity timeline

• Overview

Sears is hiring a Web Designer in Washington, DC.

• Role description

Hard problems in Google Cloud don't intimidate you; they're the reason you open your laptop, which makes you our kind of Web Designer. At Sears, $107,000 - $163,000 buys a mid-level seat, but 5 years of React buys you the ownership that comes with it.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong code-review culture
  • Watch React error budgets and pump the brakes before Washington, DC burns through them
  • Re-architect the technology flow so Jenkins handles ten times Washington's current load
  • Read the Critical Thinking stack traces others skim past, and trace bugs to their root
  • Own the full lifecycle of technology systems from prototype to production
  • Turn Sears's Critical Thinking on-call noise into alerts that actually mean something
  • Scale data pipelines processing millions of events with Express.js

  What You'll Bring

  • Strong time-management skills and a bias toward action
  • A communicator who writes the meeting recap nobody asked for but everyone reads
  • 5+ years putting Docker to work in a technology setting
  • A team player who lifts up colleagues and shares credit
  • Experience translating Express.js complexity for a non-technical audience

Ask anyone in Washington about Sears and you'll hear the same thing: a sharp-but-gentle crew that ships fast and sweats the Express.js details. Ownership at Sears means you fix the broken thing even when nobody assigned it to you.

Beyond $107,000 - $163,000, Sears offers a generous benefits package and the chance to lead projects that build your skills.
