The opportunity timeline

• Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Test Engineer in Orem, UT.

• Role description

Our Test Engineer role rewards the deadline-driven habit of writing the test before you trust the feature, especially around Allure Report. Where most technology jobs cap your reach, this Microsoft one in Orem pays $74,000 - $103,000 and widens it the longer you stay.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Resurrect flaky Cypress tests until the Orem, UT suite is trustworthy again
  • Slice the deeply-curious technology monolith into Postman services Orem, UT can deploy alone
  • Monitor system health and set up alerting for community-minded production environments
  • Keep Microsoft's Growth Mindset dependencies patched before the CVEs become incidents
  • Set the Cypress coding standards the rest of Microsoft engineering follows
  • Turn Microsoft's SoapUI on-call noise into alerts that actually mean something

  What You'll Bring

  • A communication style that translates jargon back into plain English
  • Critical thinking skills and sound, independent judgment
  • Demonstrated comfort presenting to mid-level leadership
  • Strong rapport-building skills and a genuinely positive presence
  • The discipline to document while it's fresh, not after it's forgotten
  • Demonstrated ability to teach what you know to someone greener
  • Proven aptitude for Smoke Testing, ideally near Orem, UT

We started Microsoft in an Orem garage because the technology status quo deserved a spirited-and-grounded reckoning. Our Orem team would rather over-communicate than leave a teammate guessing at midnight.

Count on $74,000 - $103,000, remote-first flexibility, parental leave, and a stipend for the tools and courses you need.

Newly refreshed, this mid-level position in Orem welcomes applicants now.

Bring your Smoke Testing, your questions, and your ambition; we'll bring the rest at Microsoft.
