• Overview

BKD is hiring a Principal Software Engineer in Stamford, CT.

Hard problems in Team Leadership don't intimidate you; they're the reason you open your laptop, which makes you our kind of Principal Software Engineer. Everything here scales with you — $189,000 - $275,000 at 8 years, technology ownership soon after, and a BKD ladder above.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Scale data pipelines processing millions of events with Empathy
  • Sit with technology users in Stamford to learn what the PostgreSQL tool really needs
  • Tune Java caching so BKD survives the Stamford launch spike on the same hardware
  • Refine and maintain microservices that support BKD customers in Stamford, CT
  • Lead the Spring Boot migration that finally retires BKD's scrappy-but-steady legacy stack

  What You'll Bring

  • At least 10 years of standing behind your own estimates
  • Comfort with part-time arrangements and the rhythms of a make-it-better workplace
  • Comfort being accountable for a metrics-driven outcome in a part-time role
  • Proven follow-through, measured in shipped things rather than good intentions
  • The diplomacy to align stakeholders who don't agree yet

  • The self-awareness to know which problems are yours to solve

Equal parts laboratory and workshop, BKD builds warm-yet-rigorous technology products that hold up far beyond the borders of Stamford, CT. Every Principal Software Engineer at BKD owns an outcome, not just a checklist of tasks.
